With just a simple spray on and wipe off, you can enjoy long lasting protection and glossy finish.

If you’re unsure where to begin, don’t worry. This guide will show you the easiest way to apply Nexgen Ceramic Spray to your car, from start to finish.

Nexgen Ceramic Spray

Nexgen Ceramic Spray is a revolutionary professional-grade sealer. It helps repel dirt and water from your vehicle’s surface, while also protecting the paint from weather, scratches, dust, spills and any other element. Amongst similar products on the market, Nexgen Ceramic Spray uses the highest concentration of silicon dioxide, or SiO2.

Fun fact, SiO2 is the exact same substance that makes up one of the world’s strongest and most abundant natural minerals, quartz. You know what’s also made of SiO2? Glass. That’s why ceramic coatings make cars look so glossy; there is essentially a thin layer of glass bonded to a car’s topcoat.

With 20 years in the automotive care industry, Nexgen's proprietary formula of ceramics, silicon dioxide, and polymers has become the backbone of professional detailers and auto dealerships.

If you’ve never had the chance to use any kind of ceramic spray before, this article is for you. But before introducing you to Nexgen Ceramic Spray, I want to tell you a few things about the DIY ceramic coating process.

Hopefully, these tips and tricks will help you get the results you’ve been looking for, and didn’t even think were possible.

What Is Ceramic Coating, And Why Is It Important?

A ceramic coating is an additional layer applied to the car’s paint job to protect it from contaminants.

However, ceramic coating is not only about protection but also about shine. A good ceramic coating can erase a few years from your car’s appearance and make it look like it once did...like new. Or, in some cases, maybe even better.

When it comes to car care, many car owners stop at waxing. But that’s simply not enough, as wax is not primarily designed to protect. It’s created just for looks; to make your car’s paint look shiny and fresh. Once you try ceramic coating, you'll see how all the qualities of waxing tend to wane in comparison.

Learning how to apply ceramic coating will not only help you repel common contaminants like dirt and dust. Road salt, tree sap, insect guts, or grime will also be kept at bay, which means fewer car maintenance procedures. Or, at least, less frequently.

In fact, high-quality ceramic coatings like Nexgen also have hydrophobic properties, fully protecting your car from the contaminants commonly found in water.

All in all, when applied regularly, a ceramic coating will help maintain your car’s market value. If you decide to sell it, you’ll have greater chances of getting the price you want.

How To Apply Ceramic Coating

What you should know about ceramic coatings is there are two types of products you can find on the market. The ones applied by professional detailers and DIY products like Nexgen Ceramic Spray.

If you elect to choose a professional ceramic coating, you can expect exceptional results; but be prepared for a pretty big cost. Professional ceramic coatings must be performed by a certified detailer, as there is a chance of permanent damage to your car’s exterior if not done properly. However, if you want to cut back on the price but still like to pamper your vehicle, you can always do it yourself. When you choose a high-quality DIY product, the result will be very close to what you would get from professional products.

You may not master the process from the first try, but you can’t completely fluke it either. And anyway, this is why I’m here, to help you get the ins and outs of how to apply ceramic coating by yourself.

What Is The Best Way To Apply Ceramic Coating?

Thankfully, the process of applying Nexgen Ceramic Spray is quite easy, but you do need to prepare your car beforehand. For the ceramic coat to fully bond to the paintwork, you’ll need the entire painted surface to be clean and residue-free. This way, it will have complete coverage and create a permanent bond with the paint.

This means you’ll need to wash your car, clean it with a clay bar, and polish it to minimize defects.

Not only will this prep work help the ceramic coat bond better, but it will also prevent minor defects from showing. Ceramic coatings or nano-ceramic coatings as they are also known will tend to highlight whatever’s on the surface. If there are small scratches or swirl marks once applying a semi-permanent coating, they will tend to show even more, as if in the limelight.

So don’t skip any of the following steps and complete them in this exact order if you want to learn how to apply ceramic coating like a pro:

1. Wash Your Car Thoroughly

Before you continue with any car care procedures, you require a squeaky-clean car. Regardless of where you drove it by this point, your vehicle is most likely covered in dirt, dust, and who knows how many other contaminants. A deep washing session will help remove all these.

To clean your car, you can take it to the car wash — not an automatic one as it would damage its paint — or you can wash it yourself using the classic two-bucket method.

Fill one bucket with clean water and the other with soapy water. Be sure to use a car shampoo for better results. Do not use a sponge in any way, and go instead with a microfiber cloth or chenille wash mitt. Use the Nexgen Bug and Tar Remover for impurities too stubborn to simply come off if just shampooing doesn't cut it.

2. Use a Clay Bar

After you’ve washed and dried your car, I recommend using a premium clay bar. As I’ve noticed myself many times before, the clay bar is excellent in removing all debris that may have stayed behind after washing. Apart from cleaning your car’s surface, it also enhances adherence for the coming ceramic coat. Just make sure you have a good lubricant like Nexgen Quick Detail Spray to get the best results.

3. Polish Your Car To Perfection

As you already know, any imperfection on your car will become more visible after applying the ceramic coating. This is why you should also give it a good polish before moving forward.

And while you most probably won’t have those giant buffers that professionals use, you can do the work with a dual-action polisher.

Minor scratches can also be removed with Nexgen Scratch and Swirl Remover and a microfiber towel or applicator pad, if you don’t have a dual-action polisher.

By using rubbing compounds and polish, the surface will be corrected — a crucial step if you want to master how to apply ceramic coating using Nexgen Ceramic Spray.

4. Prep The Car

Before you hurry to apply ceramic coating, you should first lay down the foundation. In this case, it would be something like a primer an Isopropyl Alcohol solution. This is an optional final step that will remove any wax or oil residues from the painted surface of your car.

5. Apply The Ceramic Coating

Finally here! The ceramic coating stage. It’s not necessary, but you can wear nitrile gloves to avoid leaving marks on the paint. Also, make sure your car is completely dry at the moment of the coating.

Nexgen Ceramic Spray is quite easy to apply, but I still recommend that you only do one panel at a time for better results. This way, it will be easier to follow where you left off.

On each panel, apply our Ceramic Spray (a little goes a long way, you only need 2-3 sprays per panel!) directly to the paint. Then, with a clean microfiber towel, wipe the product over the panel using a back and forth motion. Avoid using circular motions. As soon as the product is evenly applied, flip the towel over to the dry side, and buff out any remaining haziness or overspray.

Work on every section thoroughly, with patience, and be sure to avoid oversaturation of your microfibers. The trick is to only use dry towels to avoid getting too much product onto the car. When I say a little goes a long way, I mean it!

The Takeaway

All in all, using the Nexgen Ceramic Spray kit will be absolutely worth your time and effort. It provides not just a glossy shine, but also serves as a great protection against scratches and many natural contaminants.

Over time, once you learn how to apply ceramic coating you’ll find Nexgen Ceramic Spray incredibly easily to use, and you’ll love how this coating will make your vehicle easier to clean and maintain.
